Born and raised in San Francisco, Madeleine Gendreau is a visual artist who works in oil, photography, and ink, often around themes of corporeality, sensuality, and ecological transformation. Currently a garden educator and agrarian in coastal Marin County, she is interested in the preservation of ancestral food wisdom, connection to space and place, and feelings of recognition and home. Her latest projects include exploration of the comic book as an arts object. Additionally, she is interested in interrupting her former traditional arts practice with snippets of stories, scribbled half-thoughts, and dreams. Madeleine holds degrees in Urban Planning and Studio Arts from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
